Journalist does not imply Decorum

From a MLN post after several discussing if bloggers will need to keep close to the decorum of journalists on the campaign to remain welcome: http://www.myleftnutmeg.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=5103

I'm certainly not a Journalist and just an amateur part-time Blogger.

Yet it seems to me that the association of Journalist and Decorum has a lot to do with who the Journalist is and the times. When I think of Helen Thomas, Molly Ivans, a younger Mike Wallace or an occasional Dan Rather, decorum does not come 1st to mind. The finest hours of Edward R. Murrow and Bill Moyers only approach decorum because the subject is not present and the indictment so reasoned.

Is the problem we have, that many are called journalists, but a less visible few are, because they are seldom welcome in the conglomerate media?
